zo brinviyer

zo brinviyer is a poet

and visceral performance creator. She is also a mother, a teacher, a lover of rivers and

their mysteries.

After living in Copenhagen and London,

she puts down roots in the Madrid mountains and explores writing from a physical, vulnerable place,

with the conviction that intimacy is both political and universal. Her words are conceived aloud and come to life through

music and ritual. She speaks about violence, tenderness, joy, faith, and injustice —always returning to the search for Love.

zo brinviyer comes from the theatre world. She holds a degree in Dramaturgy from the Royal School of Dramatic Arts (RESAD) and studied Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her creative path has also been enriched by other disciplines such as contemporary dance and boxing, training with Manolo del Río at the Madrid Boxing Federation. Her play el deseo de ser infierno (the desire to be hell) won the National Calderón de la Barca Award and has been translated into French and Serbian.

Other works have received support from Iberescena, the SGAE’s Playwriting Lab, AECID, and the Network of Alternative Theatres. Plays like territorio madre (mother territory) and el tiempo de la sed (the time of thirst) have been published by Teatroautor and Primer Acto.

She has participated in artistic residencies at La Casa Encendida, Encuentros en Magalia, and L’Estruch in Sabadell.

As an educator, she teaches in schools and universities (Copenhagen, Queen Mary University of London, Complutense University of Madrid, La Manada, LaJoven, Madrid) and supports personal healing processes through words.

In Madrid, she has spent the past two years leading regular writing and creativity workshops in psychiatric emergency units at various public hospitals.
